A LED question.
Is it possible to have a single LED that will show a different colour for 3 different volt ranges?
For example 13.5 and over would be good, so Green; 12-13.5 is OK, so amber, below that is bad, so red. If it needed electronic wizardry, that would be OK, so long as the LED can be mounted remotely.

Best option would be a meter or a LED array. The tri-colour LED's would be fairly useless for determining charge state.

As Matt says, you could only really get a 'go-no go' indication rather than a proper indication of voltage. However, yes, it can be done. Have a search for 'window comparator'.

It's for my bike, so I don't have a lot of space for an array or a meter. I'll search for the comparator thingie when I get to work

Aldi are doing 12v car/battery testers. It's a little box few inchs long and about one wide with the usual test prongs. Row of led's showing the condition of the battery. I got two and will be cutting off the prongs and hard wiring to the batteries to keep an eye on them. May work for you and they were £2.00 each...
