An etiquette question

I'm pondering how to welcome a short, part time pedant to our vineyard in the next few days. Do I put the flags out, bunting and a brass band or should I maintain my usual level of indifference?

Thank you

Re: An etiquette question

Ignore him ...he might go away. When is this visitation to take place?

Re: An etiquette question

Is it a short, bald, fat Yorkshireman with a humongous dog and a tin snail?  neutral

Re: An etiquette question

The royal progress is set for Friday, didn't know he was a tyke as well, explains a lot....

Hmmm - can't be me cos I'm a Londoner although my late Mother was a Tyke but I don't have a dog or a tin tent ... smile

Weirdly enough my wife has both of the latter items and I seem to get lumbered when anything has to happen involving them - fortunately the mutt is on holiday at the breeders with her Mum, sister and a bunch of other dogs. The wife flew out to Tenerife with a bunch of her mates this morning so I'm unsupervised for the next week  devil

cool

As for your visitor, I'd opt for casual indifference mixed with almost subtle sarcasm but if that's too tricky you could just wade in with abuse and mockery  big_smile

Re: An etiquette question

lol

That'd never happen !

PS
If anybody's looking for a decent meal I can heartily recommend the Woodspeen near Newbury - my lad treated me to a 3 course Michelin star lunch there today and it was cracking  big_smile  £29 each plus drinks. Obviously it won't suit the trencherman but it's good quality food, cooked and served well.

Re: An etiquette question

He came, he saw, he bought wine.....

I'm amazed he's still got any hair, 3 kids all aged 24 all living at home, must be like purgatory......

Re: An etiquette question

He's on a good wedge though
Hope he didn't get a "special" discount just cos he's an oap.  whistle

We don't do discounts, especially for oap's

Re: An etiquette question

Not an OAP yet and by the time I get there they'll probably have scrapped all the perks - my Senior Railcard did get used today though smile

AND I'm not on a good wedge - two payrises in 10 years demonstrate that general IT skills and capability aren't in demand  sad

He's right about purgatory though - the downside is that I can't even remember what I did to get sent there in the first place !

In all seriousness I was rather impressed - our tame grape crusher knows his onions, probably the most informative vineyard visit we've done smile  If I had to make a criticism it'd be that he'd sold all the 2014 Pinot Noir and the next batch will be 2018 at the earliest sad

I didn't realise that PtG had been to visit rural Wiltshire !  Must cost a few bob to put up a "By Royal Appointment" sticker  devilish

Re: An etiquette question

PS
Went to visit Bombay Sapphire this morning, did a taste test and the result was identical to the former legal budgie and unsurprisingly completely different to his marginally older brother. Part of the tour is a free cocktail and since I was driving I went for the non alcoholic version (The real one came in the form of a takeaway !) - I'm not a fan of non-alcoholic anything BUT the mocktail was fantastic and far better then either of the ones the boys selected smile
