I had to refurbish the starter motor. I photographed the process to take away a bit of the fear and mystery, and to give people the option of doing it themselves for around the £40 mark rather than paying a garage around £150. ....... [ Article truncated ] |

| Subject: Land Cruiser Springs - 2nd Gen | ||
| Description: Fitting Land Cruiser springs on a 2nd gen. | ||
This is what I did to raise the rear suspension without it costing a fortune. I fitted Land Cruiser springs. With these springs, (I found out the hard way), you definitely need matching sized alloy or hard plastic spring seats to fit between the top of the springs and the chassis otherwise, (if the original Surf spring seats are used), the spring doesn't seat correctly and slips out of the seats. Two other ways of doing a similar lift are to either fit +2" longer Surf springs or 2" block spacers on top of the original springs. (Neither of the latter methods will require replacing the spring seats). Whichever method is used, you will need to also fit longer shocks to suit the amount of lift, or else the shock absorbers will top out. ....... [ Article truncated ] |
