Rear Trim Removal

You may need need to remove the rear trim to access any of the rear wiring or to access the rear panel fitted speakers.

Tools/Equipment Needed

  • Cross-head & flat-bladed screwdrivers
  • 12mm Socket

First, prise off the plastic screw covers on the lower trim piece (A) and unscrew.

Now remove the central upper trim piece by pulling carefully.

Note there is a wire and connector to the rear interior light under this piece.

When you have it removed, simply unplug the interior light connector.

Next undo the two screws holding each side piece in place (A).

Note: one of the screws on mine has been snapped off previously as can be seen in the photograph.

Prise the small plastic cover off the hooks on each side and undo the bolt (A) with a 12mm socket.

You should now be able to carefully pull the side panel away from the chassis - it will take some force to release all the clips behind and you are likely to break some of the clips.

Putting these side pieces back on again is a bit more tricky but I can't really offer any magic advice to make it easier, sorry!

Here you can see the "quality" rear speakers that came with my truck.

You can obviously fit new speakers directly here but I would not reccomend it - the panels and wiring behind the panels vibrates badly and you get an awful sound.

When I figure out how to fit speakers in the rear properly I will add to the site.

If you do fit some here and just use self-tapping screws into the plastic trim then make sure they are securely fixed, especially if you are going to be going off road.
